Cecile Beaulieu-Shaul passed away on February 28, 2023 at the age of 91 years. Cecile was born to Camil “Joseph” and Clarinda Fagnan. She grew up in the small francophone community of Vimy, Alberta with her 11 siblings – nine brothers and two sisters. She left home to work in St. Paul where she learned to be an X-ray/Lab tech. Cecile married George Paul Beaulieu and was blessed with three children, Roland (Beverly), Lorraine (Ron) and Teri (Don). All three of her children went on to become health care providers. Cecile cared about her community and worked tirelessly with Girl Guides and volunteered with Teen Time of Edmonton, helping young people find their paths. She was active with the C.W.L. at St. Edmund’s Parish. Cecile always lent a helping hand to anyone who asked.
She remarried after the loss of her first husband and spent many happy years with Jim Shaul traveling to Arizona for several winters and enjoying the cabin at Alberta Beach in the summers. She enjoyed being out in nature, playing cards and crib, knitting, golfing and visits to the casino.
Cecile was blessed with seven grandchildren, Jacqueline, Julie, Stephen, Jason, Kerri, Toni and Davyn. So far, she has four great-grandchildren, Carter, Sophie, Jordan and Harrison. Cecile has one surviving brother, Gaston (Frances). She has over 60 nieces and nephews all of whom at one point were recipients of Aunt Cec’s free advice on life. She was very family oriented and looked forward to birthday and holiday gatherings, but mostly to family reunions where everyone was able stay in touch with their Fagnan and Beaulieu roots.
Thanks to all her family and friends who helped her in her final years. Cecile lived at Shepherds Care Kensington in Edmonton for many years and recently moved to Wetaskiwin to be closer to family. She was happy with her life accomplishments and was ready to move on spiritually according to God’s plan for her.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Edmund’s Church, 13120 -116 St NW, Edmonton, Alberta. Family and friends are welcome to stay after the service at the Parish Hall for a celebration of Cecile’s life. A private interment will take place at St. Joachim’s Cemetery in Edmonton.
