It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, and Grandmother Cecile Benoit (nee PAQUIN) on September 13, 2023 with her family by her side.
In honor of Cecile we will keep this obituary, short, sweet, and straight to the point – just like her.
Cecile was born September 9, 1934 in Marchand, Manitoba to Jules and Antoinette Paquin. Cecile is survived by her children Jane (Neil), Angel (Wayne), Gilbert (Ely) and her son-in-law Stuart; as well as her grandchildren Michelle (Jason), Jason, Dawn (Patrick), Susan (Jeff), Nicole, Matthew (Cassandra) and Sarah (Thomas); great grandchildren Tanisha, Breanna, Hadyn, Riley, Chelsea, Alaisa, Abigail, Arely, Jaxon, and Adaline; great great grandchildren Samantha, and Mateo. She further leaves to mourn her sister Alice (Dave), sister-in-law Doris, brother Hector (Shirley) and brother-in-law Joseph (Agathe).
Cecile rejoins her son Andre, and daughter Grace, along with many siblings whom she has missed greatly.
Cecile was known for many talents such as her baking, crocheting and knitting, card playing, bingo dabbing, and “telling you like it is”. Cecile was a small and mighty force to be reckoned with. Throughout her life she was faced with many challenges. Mom always persevered. She is an example of strength, confidence, and faith for her family. Mom had a passion for baking, and her family loved her for it. Famously known for sweet and savory treats such as meat pies, jam-jam cookies, butter tarts, and gingersnaps.
A service will be held at Saint Ignatius Church on October 2, 2023 at 1:00pm. A private interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers we ask that you light a candle and be kind to one another.
