Cecil Bernard Beck
1943-2024
Cecil Bernard Beck, 81, of Forest Dale Home passed away
peacefully but suddenly on May 13th, 2024 with his girls by his
side. He was born in Harvey, Albert County, NB on June 5th,
1943 the son of the late James and Dorothy (Douthwright)
Beck.
Cecil was a Heavy Equipment Operator and not many could
drive the dozer like Cecil, he was hard to
beat. He worked in lumbering and had rock pits as
well. He was a very hard worker and was always on the move
with many jobs on the go. He served with the
Riverside-Albert Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He started
the Benefit Jamboree to raise funds for the fire department and he
played a major part in its organization every year.
He was very proud of how successful the Jamborees
became. He had a natural talent for music and could play any
instrument by ear. He enjoyed playing various
string instruments, the 6 and 12 string guitar, mandolin, banjo, along
with the harmonica and even the juice harps. He owned and
tried to play the organ and fiddle but he preferred the other
instruments. He loved to go to music nights and
Jamborees. He and his nephew, Mike were known as Big
& Little as Cecil played mandolin and Mike played the spoons,
they were very entertaining. Music was
definitely his passion.
He had a great sense of humour and loved to tease and had a
special knack to his storytelling. He has told many stories over the
years. He loved children and a big part of that
was he was a big kid himself. He loved waterslides and
wanted to go to Magic Mountain when it opened and enjoyed his day
immensely. His days were complete when he could get
his favorite meal, fried chicken, especially the KFC and
Dixie Lee in Sus.
Something that showed his true character was the way he
looked after all his brothers and sisters. Being the baby of
the family, he made sure they had everything they needed,
and always made sure they had their winters wood.
Cecil’s main priority in his life was his family.
He loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart.
He would do anything for them and always wanted the best for
his family. He had saying
«If I die before my kids, I’ve had a good life».
We just want you to know you meant the world to
us. All the times that you were there for us helps
us know how much you really cared. We appreciate all you did
do and feel blessed to have had a dad/papa like
you.
He will be deeply missed by his children, Sandy Spinney
(Pat) of St. Martins, Tammy Beck (Graham) of Alma, Jamie Beck of
St.Martins and Daniel McKinley (Amanda) of Sus; his treasured
grandchildren, Kristen (Kyle), Jorden (Kenzie), Mitchell, Chase, Noah,
Hailey, Joseph, Jayden and Cheyenne; his precious great grandchildren,
Sadie, Jacey and Addison; brother, Raymond Beck in Ontario.
He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sisters,
Teresa Kenney-Mercer (Fred) , Solie Barbour (Cecil), Treva Muise
(Larry); brothers, Howard, Louis, Clement, Ervin and Stancey and by
the mother of his children, Joanne Beck.
There will be no visitation. The funeral Service
and Celebration of his life will be held at the Albert County Funeral
Home on May 15th, 2024 at 2:00pm. Interment will be in the
Holy Ghost Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB.
