Welcomed into heaven by the “Chosen” on May 17, 2023 at the young age of 80. Loving and devoted mother of Christian and his wife Susie. She was the daughter of the late George and Catherine Smith who both immigrated from Germany and Scotland, Cathryn was the youngest of 6 children, and predeceased by all; Betty, Deanis Smith (Agnes), Glen Smith, Patrick Smith (Joan) and Rosalyn Robinson (Bernard). Cherished Aunt of Dana Gentili (Angelo), Sheila Robinson (Jon), the late Shannon Robinson (Tracey), Erin Smith, the late Tracy Smith, Sean Robinson (Maryanne) and Kelly Smith with a special place in her heart for Laura and Michael, as well as the many nieces and nephews from Sarnia. Will be sadly missed by many cousins whom she shared so many memories of Colchester, Pickerel Park and trips to Brockville to visit her bestie Gail with whom she had tons of adventures with.
Cathryn had received her Nursing Diploma from Stratford General Hospital School of Nursing and till this day has been friends with her classmates Sandy and Jean, and years later went back to get a Bachelors of Nursing Degree from the University of Windsor. She was a dedicated nurse that served the Michigan and Windsor Communities for over 40 years at Henry Ford, North Detroit General and Met Hospitals. As everyone knows, Cathryn had a flair for fashion and always wore the latest trending clothes of that time, and true to her passion, she opened up “Jamies Fashions” a high-end boutique in Windsor.
Cathryn was not a person that had hobbies, but at one point of her life she did like to paint, and truly enjoyed the fine arts (impressionists), politics, classical music and Nana Mouskouri.
She was a devout Catholic and had enjoyed looking up religious and documentary channels on YouTube, and the one she loved the most was the “Chosen”, she could not get enough of this series and whomever she met, she would spread the word of the Lord by communicating to everyone “you must watch this” you would love this series. Cathryn was a member of the Corpus Christi Church and past member of the Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
We would like to thank all the healthcare professionals for their support of Cathryn’s medical journey at WRH Met Campus and The Cancer Clinic, you were all truly wonderful and Cathryn was so grateful to have had a dedicated team behind her with a special thanks to Dr Cervi.
Over the years Cathryn loved giving to charities like UNICEF, World Vision, Heart & Stroke, Princess Margaret, and the Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers you may donate to one of these charities.
Visitation to take place on Thursday May 25, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Parish prayers at 8:30 pm. Funeral service on Friday May, 26, 2023 at 10:30 am at Families First, 3260 Dougall Ave., South Windsor, 519-969-5841, then proceeding to Corpus Christi Church, 1400 Cabana Road West for a funeral mass at 11 am. Interment to follow at Fairbairn Cemetery.
