It is with a heavy heart that I must report the death of my mother, Catherine (Cathy aka Cat) Gunn. On December 07, 2024, Cathy passed away at home, painlessly and peacefully in her sleep, days after spending a fantastic, happy and love filled week with her daughter Crystal and Crystal’s husband. Cathy leaves behind many people on whose lives she made a huge impact, who will miss her deeply. But especially she leaves her loving husband Geoff and their cat Lil dude, her brother Don and her cousin Linda, Linda’s husband Bill, her daughter Sandi and Sandi’s partner Selwyn, her daughter Crystal and Crystal’s husband Graeme and Cathy’s grandchildren Jake, Shelby, Daya and Mina. Cathy’s energy and connection touched and left memories with everyone she met, both in her final home of Nova Scotia and in her former home of Ontario. She always went her own way and was her own person, her wild and free spirit showing all of us lucky enough to have known her that we could live our lives to the fullest and be the people we really are. While passing will come to us all, Cathy lived every day she had before hers, and passed in a way that many would envy. For that, all of us who knew her are grateful. Yes, we will sorrow, but please hold on to that gratitude and know she lived and brought happiness and smiles to all who knew her, and somewhere still does. If anyone wishes to donate in Cathy’s memory, please consider the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Pictou County SPCA) or the Tearmann Society for Abused Women. For many, many reasons both causes were dear to her heart. A Celebration of life to be held at a later date, when weather is better and we can get together and share glasses with each other in gratitude of the wonderful spirit that Cathy shared with us all. www.mclarenfuneral.ca
