Surrounded by love, we, the family, regret to announce the passing of Catherine «Kaye» Lund (nee MacKeigan) on Friday, December 27, 2024, in Hospice Cape Breton.
Mom was born and raised in Hillside, Mira; a place so dear to her heart. Mom’s early life living on a farm began her love of caring for not only animals, but for others, as well. This love to care brought mom to be part of the first graduating class of the two-year Registered Nurse program at St. Rita’s School of Nursing. For several years, she worked at St. Rita’s Hospital, touching countless lives with her gentle hands and kind heart.
Mom met and fell in love with her soulmate, Eddie Lund. Together just recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Mom and dad have been by each other’s side since day one. Affectionately known as Kaye Hun, mom provided a home full of love. After her family was complete, mom devoted her life to caring for her girls. She leaves a legacy of love, kindness and importance of family.
Mom was the daughter of the late Norman and Edna MacKeigan.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie Lund who cared for her, not only for these last two years, but since falling in love and her daughters, who were her greatest treasures, Stacy (Kevin MacNamara) and Alison (Micheal MacLean). Nanny will be missed and forever loved by her grandchildren, «the elders», Jeremy and Lilly MacNamara and «the littles», Mallorie and Annie MacLean. Mom is also survived by her sisters, Marjorie MacKeigan, Norma MacAskill and Barb MacKeigan, as well as the whole Lund family. All of whom she loved dearly. She leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who we know will miss her dearly.
Mom was predeceased by her sister, Flora MacRae and brothers, David, Stewie, John, Malcolm, Donald and Art.
We would like to thank and are forever grateful for the wonderful staff at Hospice Cape Breton. Thank you for allowing us to take comfort in knowing mom was so cared for in her most time of need.
Visitation will take place in Bethel United Church, Marion Bridge on Saturday, January 4th from 11-1 p.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Norma Mills officiating. Interment will take place in Oakfield Cemetery.
