On August 14, 2023, Catherine Ann Curran (nee Lesaux), age 85, of Windsor passed away peacefully in her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 17, 1937 in Ottawa, Ontario.
Catherine is predeceased by her husband of 62 years, John Curran and is survived by their six children, Brad Curran (Theresa) of Windsor, Jane Maciel (Joe) of Brampton, Paul Curran (Debi) of Windsor, Mary Ann Curran of Toronto, Peter Curran (Melissa) of Chatham and Jeff Curran (Nadia) of Toronto; 12 grandchildren, Devon, Hannah, Ryan (Kelly), Daniel (Jessica), Ashley (Brendan), Shelby, Aidan, Colin, Kate, Chloe, Jacey and Tanner; and five great-grandchildren, Sophia, River, Forest, Nova and Reagan.
She is the daughter of the late Victor and Kathleen Lesaux and sister of Peter Lesaux of Ottawa, John Lesaux of London, Mary Albert of Sudbury, and David Lesaux of Renfrew.
In the early days, while John’s career was evolving and progressing, Catherine managed the responsibilities of their expanding family, creating a happy and thriving home environment while moving from Ottawa to Port Hope, Toronto, Sudbury, Brantford and finally, Windsor. Regardless of where life took them, Catherine and John made lifelong friendships along the way.
After settling in Windsor, in 1975, Catherine served as a trustee on the Windsor Separate School Board from 1980 -1991 where she passionately advocated for quality education. In her free time, Catherine enjoyed travelling with her soulmate, John, golfing, curling and playing bridge. She was also a very talented and gifted knitter and sewer. Those who knew Catherine will attest that her passions were family, friends and faith.
Catherine will be remembered as a loving wife, caring mother and role model, ‘Nanny’ to her grandchildren, ‘GG’ to her great-grandchildren and a loyal and trustworthy friend. She loved having a house full of people and large gatherings at her table. She will be deeply missed by many and although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate Catherine’s life and find comfort in the knowledge that she is watching over us and her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she met.
On Catherine’s behalf, we extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the staff of Seasons Royal Oak Village for the comfort, care and compassion they provided during her residency.
If you so desire, donations to Alzheimer Society of Windsor/Es would be appreciated by the family.
