«Chuck» Boylan – 85 of Truro, passed away on
Monday, November 11, 2024, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Carroll James Patrick and
Margaret Ann (Morris) Boylan.
Chuck is survived by
his wife, Kathleen «Kathy» Boylan; daughters, Pamela (Dion)
Tee, Goose Bay, NL, Michelle Boylan, Bedford, NS, Gillian (Chris)
Lysyk, North Shore, NS; stepchildren, Judy (Bill) Haight, Truro, NS,
Bill (Laura) Urquhart, Ottawa, ON, Maureen (Greg) Bayne, Bridgewater,
NS, Laurie (James) Waite, Orilla, ON, Ron (Meghan) Urquhart,
Belleville, ON; siblings, Sheila Froese, New Market, ON, Terry
(Jeannette) Boylan, Atlin, BC, Mike (Gail) Boylan, Victoria, BC;
sister-in-law, Jean Boylan, Bathurst, NB; grandchildren, Ryan, Julia
and Ben Tee, Skyler Boylan, Simon and Jeremy Lysyk; step
grandchildren, Bryce and Keri Nichols, Alexander, Matthew and Lauren
Bayne, Talbot and Parker Waite, Aiden and Cohen Urquhart. Chuck was
predeceased by his brother Bob Boylan, and step grandson Travis
Nichols.
Chuck was raised in
Nictaux Falls and Middleton, NS. After graduating from high school, he
completed his Bachelor of Commerce at St. Mary’s University
in Halifax. He went on to work in various locations across Canada,
including Quebec and British Columbia before settling in Tatamagouche,
NS. This is where he opened his business, North Shore Accounting Ltd.
It was a business he was proud of and accounting was a career that he
was passionate about. Another point of pride for Chuck was his
volunteer position as treasurer of the Tatamagouche Fire Department.
Chuck moved to Truro in 2001 and married his beloved Kathy. They were
married 21 beautiful years.
Chuck was a true
gentleman. He was full of Irish wit as well as being wise, generous,
and loving. He enjoyed travelling to visit friends and family, reading
the paper, playing crib and driving his red Miata. He was an
enthusiastic animal lover especially of dogs and horses. In his
earlier days he was an avid jogger and in later years loved a good
walk. While his health permitted, he was involved with the St. Vincent
de Paul Society and Kane’s Kitchen. Chuck would never pass a
person in need without stopping to offer a word of encouragement and a
bit of coin.
Funeral service will
be held 12:15 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Immaculate
Conception Catholic Church, Father Henry Lunninze officiating.
Reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Donations may be made to St
Vincent De Paul Society at the Immaculate Conception Church,
Truro.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
