Obituary of Carolyn Beatrice Smith
Carolyn Beatrice Smith (née Cooper) passed away peacefully December 24, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Carolyn was the daughter of the late Edward Boyd Cooper and Cora Vivian (née Reid) Cooper.
Carolyn was predeceased by her brother Arthur Berton Cooper. Carolyn was born on February 5, 1932, in Saint John, New Brunswick. She graduated from Saint John High School in 1948 and embarked on a remarkable journey of work and care.
Carol began her career with Trans Canada Airlines before moving to Southern California, where she dedicated her time to nursing at a local hospital. Her compassion and drive for helping others were evident throughout her life.
On May 26, 1956, Carol married the love of her life, Bowyer Sidney Smith. Together, they built a loving family and shared many cherished memories. Bowyer predeceased her on October 13, 2019. Carol was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Dr. Rachael Lindsay Smith (David Turk), on February 7, 2022.
Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. She is survived by her sons: David Edward Smith, Christopher Michael Smith (Janie Brown) and Andrew Bowyer Smith (Patricia Duplessis). She also leaves her treasured grandchildren: James Masten, Eric Smith. Maclean Smith, Rebecca Smith, Daniel Turk and Sidney Turk.
A funeral to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held in the Spring at a date to be determined. Her family looks forward to honouring her memory and sharing in her incredible journey of love, care, and resilience.
Carolyn’s kindness and grace will be forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
