Obituary
Ross, Carolyn Linda – 88, of Stoney Island, passed away at Bayside Home on February 29th, 2024. Born on June 19, 1935 she was a daughter of the late Claude and Maude (Nickerson) Smith. Carolyn loved cooking for family and friends. She was the Postmistress for many years and always made everyone feel welcome and spoiled with homemade treats as they collected their mail from her home. Carolyn enjoyed traveling and playing cards especially crib. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and knitting. Carolyn was a member of the Centreville United Baptist Church and the Stoney Island Cemetery Club. In her younger years, Carolyn was a dedicated volunteer ambulance attendant when operated by volunteers and many will remember her working at the Dixie Lee. Carolyn is survived by her children, Bryden (Thelma), Michael (Chrisandra), Durwood (Trina) and Eleanor (Larry) Jones; grandchildren, Rhoda, Krista, Kara, Nicholas, Dillon and Carleen; several great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Maurice; brothers, Gerald, Emerson and Randall. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6 from 6-8 pm from the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7 at 2:00 pm from the Faith Christian Church, Centreville. Interment will take place in Atlantic Cemetery, Stoney Island. Flowers welcome, donations may be made to the Stoney Island Cemetery Club or any charity of choice.
