CAROL BURROWS
March 5, 1947 – February 18, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carol Burrows on February 18, 2023 at the age of 75 surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with Glioblastoma.
She was predeceased by parents, Donald and Elsie Muir, and sister Shirley Lynn. She is survived by her loving family, husband Bill Burrows, sons Robert McCormick (Michelle) and Craig McCormick, daughter Shari Ransom (Brett), step-sons Brian Burrows and Dave Burrows (Genevieve), grandchildren Danielle Majury (Jason), Elliot McCormick, Allison McCormick, Emma McCormick, Nolan McCormick, Tanner Graveline, Lyla Ransom, Brayden Burrows, Rylan Burrows, Victoria Wirth, Jacqueline Burrows, great-granddaughter Olivia McCormick, sister Donna Hartle (John), brother George Muir (Linda), and her many nieces and nephews.
In the northern town of Flin Flon, Manitoba, on March 5, 1947, Carol was born to Donald and Elsie Muir. After high school at Hapnot Collegiate, Carol married her first husband, Herb McCormick. Their two sons were born here, first Robert, followed by Craig.
Employment took the family to Sioux Lookout, Ontario, where daughter, Shari was born. Carol spent her days lovingly caring for her children as well as others children. In her “spare” time she also worked a part time evening job. Carol was very hard working, all the while, sharing her warm, thoughtful, caring personality with all she met.
The family eventually moved to Winnipeg where Carol worked at The Round Table restaurant for many years. This is where she met her second husband, Bill Burrows. Bill and Carol had been married for 35 years at the time of her passing. Their wedding brought two families together, gaining two step sons, Brian and David.
Carol also worked at a few other restaurants, prior to retirement. After her retirement, she helped care for family and friends. Carol had much love to give. She sought out people to help and care for. Carol liked to travel, sometimes to new places, but most often to visit family and friends. Carol’s greatest passion was spending time and making memories with her family. Her second greatest passion was baking treats that she shared with family and friends.
Once diagnosed with Glioblastoma, her days changed, but she courageously carried on without complaint. She continued enjoying visits with family and friends. In her final days, residing at Grace Hospice, she shared her beautiful spirit with all and was much loved.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at CancerCare, and both Riverview and Grace Hospice for the amazing respect, care, kindness and compassion.
A private ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Grace Hospital Foundation, in support of Hospice.
