Carol’s Obituary
Carol Anne Gamble (nee Sleep) passed away August 10, 2024 in her 85th year after a brief and courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side. Carol is survived by her children: Gregory David Gamble, Patricia Elaine Bannister, and Brenda Marshall along with her grandchildren Stephanie Marshall, Alexander Bannister, and Gregory Bannister. Carol leaves behind a number of close and lifelong friendships.
Carol was born on November 17th, 1939 in Saint John, New Brunswick and lived on a farm in the Clifton Royal area of the Kingston Peninsula. Carol attended Teachers College in Fredericton for Home Economics then moved to Fort Simpson, NWT to teach school where she met and married her husband, David Gamble. Carol and David later lived in Timmins and then North Bay Ontario where they raised their three children.
David predeceased Carol in 2009 and she later relocated to Paris Ontario to live closer to her daughters. Carol was always active in the community throughout her life including the West Ferris Lioness Club, senior fitness classes and was an active member of the Legion and the United Church of Canada. Carol loved living on Lake Nipissing and made a point of spending as many summers as possible in North Bay at “the cottage”.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dwayne D. Budgell Funeral Home. In accordance with Carol’s expressed wishes, cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society – Skin Cancer Research in Carol’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
