Obituary
GREENWOOD, Carlton Wilfred – 83, Shag Harbour, passed away June 3, 2024, at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born on April 4, 1941, at Shag Harbour, he was a son of the late Malcolm and Margret (Watkins) Greenwood. Carlton was a school bus driver, a lighthouse keeper and a fisherman. During his last years of lobster fishing he fished with his son, Terry, which he took great pride in and made many memories. He was also an avid hunter, hunting duck and deer with his son, Ernie, as well as taking trips to PEI to go goose hunting. He loved watching baseball games, cheering for his favourite team the Toronto Blue Jays and he also loved watching the birds at his feeder. The family would like to take this time to thank the VON, homecare workers, palliative coordinator, Tracey Smith, and Dr. Cooper. A thank you also goes out to the nurses during his hospital stays on the 4th floor. A special thank you, as well, to Lucy Nickerson and Dawna for all the kindness shown to the family over the past few months. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon (Nickerson); daughter, Cindy Sears (Anthony Smith); sons, Ernie (Susan) Greenwood, Terry (Karen) Greenwood, Carl (Louise) Greenwood; grandchildren, Jaime (Arron) d’Eon, Devon (Tyson) Green, Tracy, Travis, Courtney (Jared) Nickerson, Colby (Dianna); great-grandchildren, Cameron, Caiden, Bruin, and Larkyn. He was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Margaret. There will be a visitation held on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. A private family graveside will follow along with interment at the Old Farm Cemetery, Shag Harbour. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in his name may be made to the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund, Barrington Lions Hall, or a charity of your choice.
