Butler, James Robert Salisbury ‘Jimmy’
James Robert Salisbury Butler ‘a.k.a. Jimmy, Papa, Grandpa’ passed peacefully at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in his 86th year.
Jimmy was an electrical engineer by education and entrepreneur by trade. He proudly founded R-Theta Inc. after being transferred to Canada from the UK.
With his first wife, Gillian, he emigrated to Canada with their two daughters, Karen and Samantha; shortly followed with the birth of twins, Nicholas (Julie) and Trevor (Chantal). Jimmy’s second wife, Ruth, came to the marriage with two girls, Genevieve (Ray) and Tiffanie (Arthur).
Jimmy leaves behind 14 grandchildren either by bloodline or through marriages, including Logan, Lauren, Kaitlin, Dawson, Carter, Ellie, Rhyse, Emmett, Mateus, Maelle, Zach, Thomas, Connor, and Abigail.
He will be missed by family and friends alike. Always ready with a smile and laughter, he carried the burden of poor health for many years but faced it with a readiness to participate and enjoy.
Jimmy leaves a legacy of discipline, acceptance of what was right and proper, and always, always arriving on time.
A private service of interment will be conducted at Thornbury-Clarksburg Union Cemetery, followed by a celebration of Jimmy’s life with family and friends.
