Obituary
Passed away suddenly in Minnesota on July 29, 2023. Born in Scarborough on July 26, 1960, Bruce Wild of Owen Sound was in his 64th year.
Beloved husband of Liza (nee Hunt) of Owen Sound. Loving father of Jonathan Wild, Annie Wild, both of Owen Sound. Loving step-father to Mickey McEachern (Matthew) of Collingwood and Joseph Weppler of Stratford. Cherished granddad of Adelaide and Elie McEachern. Dear brother of Patricia Lorenc (Claude) of Scarborough, Corinne Winnel of Whitby, Maxine Fitzgerald (David) of Whitby. Bruce will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Predeceased by his parents, Arthur John Wild and Janine Cecile (Favier) of Bowmanville and in-laws Joan and Fred Hunt of Chatsworth.
Bruce was an animal lover and dearly cherished his fur babies. If you were driving with him, it was well known that you might have to stop at any time to rescue birds, turtles or whatever animal was in distress. He loved riding his Harley. He was on a bucket-list trip to British Columbia to ride and meet with old friends when he was tragically taken.
He had a love of music and played many instruments, which he proudly passed on to his children.
Bruce was a proud member of the Jerusalem Lodge No. 31, where he became a Master Mason.
Bruce loved his career as a financial advisor (Manulife Securities) which he took very seriously as the custodian of his clients’ wealth and hard work. He became great friends with many of his clients and understood this duty with the utmost professionalism.
Before he became involved in a career in finance, Bruce was part of the global security solution provider Intercon Security, where he was the account director for the headquarters in Toronto. He was particularly proud of driving the motorcade for His Holiness John Paul II during his papal visit to Canada in 1984. He was soon promoted and tasked with opening the Vancouver Branch of Intercon, where he lived for over five years before returning to Toronto.
In Toronto, he began working as a personal protection specialist for the Anvil Group and regaled his family and friends with anecdotes that including protecting clients such as William Shatner, Martha Stewart, Martin Short, Alec Baldwin and Michelle Pfeiffer, just to name a few.
A memorial service to celebrate Bruce’s life will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 12 pm, with visitation two hours prior. Interment will take place in Golden Valley Cemetery.
