Bruce Alexander Robertson
1952-2024
Bruce Alexander
Robertson, 72, of Wolfville, formerly of Bedford, passed away on
December 5, 2024, grateful for having enjoyed a life very rich in
experience and good fortune.
Born June 8, 1952 and
raised in Truro, NS, Bruce was the son of Alexander
«Sandy» Wishart and Thelma Joan (Chew) Robertson.
The eldest of four siblings, he enjoyed a very outgoing and
adventurous youth that included earning Scouting’s highest
honour, the Queen’s Scout award; representing Canada
internationally at the 1967 Boy Scout World Jamboree; and military
training as a member of the North Nova Scotia
Highlanders.
From his early 20s to
late 40s, Bruce had an accomplished career in media and public
relations. After several years as a reporter/photographer for a daily
newspaper (New Glasgow) he moved on to senior communications
management positions with a number of organizations including Blue
Cross (Moncton), Alberta Power (Edmonton), Etobicoke Hydro (Toronto)
and the Canadian Real Estate Association (Ottawa). He also served a
variety of other organizations as a consultant and strategic planning
facilitator. During that era of his life, he was active in several
chapters of the International Association of Business Communicators
(IABC), including serving as President of the Atlantic Canada Chapter
and having his professional accomplishments recognized nationally
through annual industry awards of excellence in several
categories.
Bruce’s life
underwent a monumental shift at the start of the new Millenium, when
he returned to Nova Scotia and worked for a year as managing editor of
several regional magazines based in Liverpool, NS. That’s
when he met the love of his life and true soul mate Terry Sheehy, who
had recently established an acupuncture clinic and natural therapy
practice in Bedford. Bruce soon joined her, both in Bedford and in
clinic practice. He trained and became proficient at computerized
bio-energy testing, and conducted comprehensive bio-energy screening
for thousands of patients over the next 15 years. At the same time,
the couple enjoyed a very satisfying personal life, filled with joy
from their frequent travels abroad, active outdoor life including
cottage living in summer, beloved cat companions, circle of long-time
friends, and the arrival of four grandchildren. The pandemic shutdown
of 2020 brought about Bruce’s retirement from patient
testing, but provided the opportunity for Terry and Bruce to relocate
to Wolfville where they continued to enjoy a fulfilling personal and
work life in his final years.
Bruce is survived by
his loving wife, Teresa «Terry» Georgene Sheehy;
sister, Brenda Joan Robertson (Wendy Bedingfield), Wolfville; brother,
Brian Wishart Robertson (Sumitra Dutt), Abbotsford, BC; niece and
nephews, Manjulika, Khirode and Tushar Robertson, Abbotsford, BC;
stepsons, Art James (Mandy), Goderich, ON; Ian James (Ashley),
Fredericton, NB; Taylor James, Halifax; step-grandchildren, Sadie and
Zev James, Goderich, ON and Henry and Ben James, Fredericton, NB.
Bruce will also be greatly missed by his chosen brother in life, Bob
(Judy) Powers, Halifax; and especially by his beloved cat companions,
Ghost and Carlos. He was predeceased by his parents, Sandy and Thelma
Robertson; his younger brother, Blair Johnston Robertson; and too many
precious cat companions to name.
In accordance with
Bruce’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be
no visitation or funeral service. A private family service will be
held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in
Bruce’s memory may be made to your local SPCA. Arrangements
have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
