Wood; Bronwen Margaret
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Bronwen Wood, who left us on December 3rd 2024. Although her passing was very sudden, she was surrounded by love and went to be with her Lord in Heaven during a peaceful sleep.
Born on May 28, 1947, in Magog Quebec, Bronwen was the eldest daughter of Robert and Muriel Malcom. She grew up in a lively and traveling military family and would often recount stories from those good old days. She went on to become a teacher at St. Lawrence College in Kingston and travel the world in her profession, having an encouraging and positive impact on all her students. She retired from McMaster University in 2013, where she enjoyed a wonderful friendship with Dr. Sarah McDonald.
A dedicated mother, Bronwen was the heart of her family. She took immense pride in raising her three children, offering them wisdom, comfort, and unwavering support. She was always fiercely protective and loved beyond measure. Bronwen was always thinking of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was decorated with family photos, and she made sure to let everyone know how loved they were in every way. Her enthusiastic rendition of the Happy Birthday song on everyone’s special day will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband Joseph Wood, with whom she was set to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary this December. They had a wonderful life together filled with travel, adventures and love. She is also survived by her daughter Kathleen Pereira with her children Andrew, Bradley with fiancé Veronica, Cody with wife Molly, their sons Miller and Malachi, and Keanen Pereira; her son Sean Clarke, wife Alma with their children Nic, Sebastian, Dailia and Lucy; her Son Ryan Wood, wife Carolynne with their children Daniel and Katrina. Nanny has a special place in the hearts of all her grandchildren, with whom she loved spending time, reading stories and singing all the songs that her mother had sung to her.
She is also survived by her siblings Robert and Pam Malcolm, Ian and Joy Malcolm and Glynys and Marty Kulchyski. She loved to share fond memories of all her siblings, nieces and nephews. She was immensely proud of her Welsh and Scottish heritage, ensuring her children they knew their roots.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Muriel Malcolm and her brother Andrew Malcom, as well as her dear Uncle Bill Letton.
Bronwen was a deeply spiritual woman and lived a life of faith. She knew at the end of her earthly journey she would be reunited with her loved ones who had gone on before her.
Bronwen will forever be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who knew her. Words cannot express how loved she was and how she will be missed. We take comfort knowing she is singing all her favourite songs again in heaven with the angels. Rest in peace Mom, until we meet again xo.
A celebration of life will be arranged in the new year. Condolences in memory of Bronwen may be forwarded online through wartmanfuneralhomes.com.
