It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Wayne Hathaway, age 53, at Chatham Kent Health Alliance, surrounded by his family.
Brian was the beloved son of Jackie and the late Fred Hathaway (2014) and his bonus dad Tom Turner (2019). He was the cherished husband of Cathy Tong, beloved father of Nicole Bueckert (Andy), Ariana Mason, Brylee Hathaway (Nolan) and is now reunited with his son, Brian Wayne Hathaway Jr (2004). He will also be missed by his former wife Janet Turner. Brian was the loving bonus dad of Becky Tong (Chris), Cassandra Gray (Tyler), Dustin Goovaerts, Michelle Tong (Justin), Brenden Tong and Owen and Kentten Hathaway. He was grandpa to Jacob and Elizabeth Bueckert, Abby, Andrew and Alexander Tong and Alexsander Gray. Brian was a bonus papa to many little ones that he adored. He was the loving uncle to Freddy (Carly) and Tiffany, Lauren, Dominic, Bridon (Ashlynn) and Caitlin. He adored Leyton and Myah. Brian will be missed by his brother Les Hathaway (Stacy). He is also survived by parents in law Verne and Leona Coulter, sister in law Sheila Breschetti and brother in law Kevin Coulter (Joann). Brian will be missed by his furry friends Zoey, Buddy, Kayto and Lily. He was very well known by many friends and extended family. He will be missed by aunts, uncles and cousins.
Brian was very dedicated to his family and friends. He enjoyed smoking food and loved planning the next barbecue almost right after the one he just held. He loved trying many restaurants but one of his favourite sandwiches was a delicious Rueben. He loved tacos, nachos and hot sauces. He liked going to the hot sauce expo, trying new and different sauces. Summer was his time of year. He would sit around the fire pit or under the gazebo. A tall cold one was often enjoyed while outside. Nascar racing was a Sunday favourite and dirt racing was another favourite for Brian.
We will miss everything about him and never forget our wonderful Brian.
