It’s with the heaviest of hearts that Carol informs friends and family that on Friday December 8, 2023 Brian passed peacefully at the Temiskaming Hospital following a rapid decline with Alzheimer’s.
Brian was born in Niagara Falls, ON, August 12, 1944 to the late Edward Hughes and to the late Evelyn Weaver. Together with his wife and business partner Carol, they owned and operated Old Mill Marina on Kawagama Lake in Dorset, ON, for twenty seven and a half years. Brian was an outdoors enthusiast at heart and he loved to fly his Cessna plane until his health forced him to render his pilots license. He was a loving husband, father, brother and friend to many. His friendly and mild mannered demeanour will be missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.
Brian is survived by his loving and devoted wife Carol, by his sons Todd (Denise) Hughes, Tyler Hughes, by his sister Peggy (Jim) Spurgeon and by his brother Craig (Cora) Hughes.
Brian’s final care has been entrusted to the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home – New Liskeard Chapel. Brian will be intered at Paint Lake Cemetery at a much later date near where he and Carol spent most of their days. Carol asks that you have a toast to his memory and, if able, donate to Alzheimer Society of Canada in his name. Condolences and memories can be left at www.buffamleveille.com
