Brenda Dasti Obituary
In the early morning of December 7th, 2023, we lost an amazing woman, Brenda Marilyn Dasti, after a short but ferocious battle with Amyloidosis, a condition that greatly affected her heart. With her heart being the biggest part of her, she was just unable to defeat it. She passed away very peacefully, surrounded by her loving family in the place of her choosing.
Brenda was a caring and giving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grand-mother, mother-in-law and aunt.
She was born on July 6th, 1949, in Hornepayne to Sydney and Wilma Lewis (maiden name of Hickie), both predeceased. Her siblings included Cathy Lewis, Jerry Lewis (wife Christine), Richard/Dick Lewis – predeceased (wife Carol), and was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She will also be sadly missed by her sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Sharon & Mike Lee.
While living in Hornepayne, she met her husband of 55 years, Kenney Dasti. Once married, she moved from there and spent the majority of her life in Capreol, then moved to Hanmer where she lived the last remaining 6 months of her life.
She became a very proud mother to her two sons – James (wife Vikki Larocque) and Nicolai/Nick (partner Bethany Lynch).
She was overjoyed when she became a grand-parent to her grand son, Jesse Dasti. She then had a grand-daughter Breanna Dasti who completed her million-dollar family. She was dedicated to make as many happy memories with them as she could and they will forever remember their time with Nana.
Brenda held a very special place in her heart for Yvonne Barkhof, the mother of her grand-daughter and she was very blessed with remaining childhood friends with Barbara Drury, Beverly Krystia and Judy Caron. She continued to make many more dear friends throughout her lifetime.
Brenda had a variety of work experiences, from a Lab Tech at the Hornepayne Hospital, a bank teller at the CIBC bank in Capreol, then a florist and cashier at different grocery stores in both Capreol and Hanmer. Her favourite job, though, was taking care of her boys … husband included.
Brenda’s loving nature even brought her to became a foster parent in her later years. She cared for multiple children and she loved and treated every one of them as though they were her own.
She had a love of gardening and she was an avid animal lover, taking in everything from wounded robins to stray cats and dogs. Brenda also had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh.
Sincere appreciation to Dr. C. Bleach (Family Physician), Dr. Singh and the Palliative Care Team, the Hospice team, as well as the staff at Bayshore Home Care Solutions. Your dedicated and compassionate care was greatly appreciated by all of us … and especially Brenda.
As per Brenda’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral, but a celebration of her amazing life will be held at a later date.
Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Maison McCulloch Hospice, the local SPCA or a charity of your choosing would be greatly appreciated.
We hope she knows how special she was to all of us and how greatly she impacted all of our lives. She will forever remain greatly loved and forever missed.
