Allen Bradley «Brad» Anderson October 30, 1966 – April 6, 2024. It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Brad after a long battle with PTSD. As a child, Brad was very involved in Scouts Canada, where he found his love for nature, achieved his Chief Scout Award, and remained active for many years as a leader. He was also recognized by the Governor General and received a Diamond Jubilee Medal for his quick action during a camping trip with his Scout troop in 1995. Brad joined the Metro Toronto Police Force in 1988 and spent his career there working in 51 Division. He served in many capacities including the Public Order Unit, Forensics as well as many other achievements. While in the Toronto Police, he along with several colleagues, volunteered with Care Canada in Zaire in 1994 to support Rwandan refugees, after which he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.
After his beautiful daughters came along, he transferred to the Cape Breton Regional Police force in 2000 and brought his family home to be closer to extended family. They stayed in Cape Breton for several years in which time, he was also a member of the Emergency Response Team. He went on to work with the RCMP in Iqaluit, Nunavut in 2004. During his time in the North, he made impactful and lasting connections with his RCMP family, who remain to this day extended family for his children. He returned to Cape Breton in 2007 to serve Victoria and Inverness counties. He had a special place in his heart for the community of Waycobah where he was a highly respected member. The level of respect and compassion that he showed to the people he encountered in the line of duty was reflected in the high regard and gratitude they had for him.
After returning to Cape Breton, he met the love of his life, Paula. After he retired in 2021, they settled in Valley Mills where he found solitude in exploring with his beloved dog, Gibson, hosting sleepovers for his grandchildren , niece and nephew, and continued to explore his passion for music.
Brad was pre-deceased by his mother, Jane Anderson. He is survived by his beloved wife; Paula, father; Allen, children; Anne (Etheridge), Erica (Donald), stepdaughter; Grace, sister; Jennifer (Mathieu), brother; Chris, nieces; Lily and Kenzley, nephews; Orrin and Logan, and his grandchildren; Eleanor and Maeve (Anne) and Kio (Grace).
