It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Blanche Madeline Herman who passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at the age of 84.
Blanche was born in Wallaceburg October 6, 1938 to Madeline (Cadotte) and Felix Belanger.
She married her beloved husband Joe Herman (predeceased), the love of her life.
Blanche was the loving and devoted mother of Darlene Beach and Chris Herman (predeceased).
Blanche cherished her granddaughter, Grace, who she spent a lot of time with, nurturing and loving her. She was also a kind sister to the late Bernard (the late Gwen), the late Lena May (Larry), Marie (the late Gerry), Helen (Brian) and Fred (Jill). She was a caring sister in law to Mary (the late Steve), Margaret (the late Adhemar) and the late Annie (the late Wilf). Blanche leaves behind many nieces and nephews who she dearly loved.
Mom was a vibrant woman who loved spending her time surrounded by many family members and good friends. She was a natural caretaker, always making sure everyone around her was enjoying life and had one of her famous butter tarts in hand. She worked tirelessly at the family business, Starlite Lanes, with her beloved Joe.
Mom was all about spreading love, comfort and support. She spent time at long term care homes, visiting many veterans. She was an active member of and volunteered at the Wallaceburg Legion, Wallaceburg Optimist Club and the Wallaceburg Horticultural Society. Blanche took great pride with her plants and flowers. She had a natural green thumb.
Many came to visit her gardens where she would happily give you a tour.
Mom was a sweet gem of a woman who always brought joy into a room. She will be missed by many.
A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Marshall Gowland Manor, the Sarnia Alzheimers Society, Howard Webb (her protector and night in shining armour) and Connie Barnard (for the many kisses, hugs and dances). A special thank you to Eric and Sandra Johnston for the unwavering support through mom’s battle with Alzheimers.
Cremation has taken place.
Following her wishes a mass celebration will take place for Blanche on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 12 noon from Our Lady of Help Church, Wallaceburg.
A private internment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation to the Sarnia Alzheimers Association would be appreciated.
