Blair Colin Bongard of Toronto, Canada, died peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the Toronto Grace Health Centre in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 91. He will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, joining his brother Gordon and other family members.
Blair is survived by his two daughters Lynn Heikkila (Ken Heikkila) and Cindy Bongard (Steve Cook) as well as his four grandchildren Matthew Heikkila (Libby Hodgin), David Heikkila (Amanda), Jesselyn Cook (Kyle Gager) and Ben Cook. He always looked forward to and enjoyed the steady stream of videos and photos of his great grandchildren Avery and Riley Heikkila, and Wyatt Gager.
Blair and his wife Nancy were extreme dog enthusiasts, spending both time and ample monetary resources toward canine embetterment – even ensuring Best of Champions for their springer spaniel George by sending him to their own orthodontist for teeth straightening – much to the chagrin of then-teenage daughter Cindy who had to fetch him while the waiting room patients stared with mouths hanging open in disbelief.
Blair was a longstanding member of Osler Bluff Ski Club in Collingwood, and well as an avid racquet sports player at the Badminton & Racquet Club in Toronto and enjoyed many years sailing at the RCYC in Toronto and snowbirding in Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations to Toronto Grace Health Centre are appreciated.
