William Roy Dickie
June 15, 1941 – September 16, 2023
On September 16, Bill died peacefully at McCormick Home with his family present. Born in Sarnia, Ontario to the late William (1964), and Dorothy (1982) Dickie. He is also predeceased by his brother Robbie, infant sons William and Robert, and granddaughter Charlette.
Loving husband to Joan (Medig) for 58 years, father to Nadine (James Perry), and Matthew (Lori). Grandfather to Joel, Ryan, Josh, and Adam. He will also be remembered by his sister Rosemary Thompson, sister in law Patsy Fortin (Andre), and brother in law Jerry Medig (Mary), as well as a wonderful group of friends and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from the University of Western Ont (Christ the King College), he articled at Clarkson and Gordon and obtained his CA Designation. Bill then went on to work in the finance department at the University of Western Ont for 28 years.
Bill was a staunch supporter of UWO football, lover of vintage cars and trucks, especially his 1947 Merc and a handyman for all his friends.
A special thank you to his home caregivers, Ashley, Cindy, and Kathleen, and all the staff at McCormick Home for the wonderful care Bill was given.
Cremation has taken place. Visitors will be received at John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, on Thursday, September 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 o’clock. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, 777 Valetta Street, on Saturday morning, September 23 at 10 o’clock.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Bill’s memory can be made to McCormick Home Care Foundation, 2022 Kains Road, London, ON N6K 0A8, (www.mccormickcarefoundation.ca/donate) would be appreciated.
