Peacefully at Caressant Care Nursing Home, Woodstock on Thursday, May 2, 2024, Melvin Wilfred “Bill” Tait of Port Burwell, Ontario passed away in his 94th year. Loving and caring husband of 71 years to Dora. Wonderful father to Darlene Roesch and her husband Bill; Christine Ringland and her husband Bud Browne; Lyal Tait (the late Karen Phillips-Tait (2020). Proud grandfather to Heather Williams, Robin Roesch, Nadine (Greg) Sharpe, Nicole Tait (Chad Rieck). Great grandfather to Kyler Williams, Ruby Williams, Caden Tait, Evelyn and Jackson Sharp and Lilly Sharp. Brother of Margurite Foster. Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son James, his parents Lyal and Rose and sister Vivian Tait. Bill loved to fish and hunt and spend his summers camping up north in Espanola. Bill was a Scout Leader for over 40 years. He was always up for watching a good game of baseball, listening to Gospel music or reading a good Western book. He will be missed by his Coffee Chums. At the request of Bill cremation has taken place. A public graveside service will be held at the St. Luke’s Cemetery in Vienna on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 11:00 am.
