Beverley Joan Peart, of Stratford ON., passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2023. She was in her 92nd year.
Bev was born on January 19, 1932, to Colin and Gladys (née Casey) Minor of Wainfleet Township in Welland County. She graduated from Port Colborne High School and completed her bachelor’s degree at Western University later in life. Bev married the late Donald MacLean Peart in 1952. They spent their first year together in Scotland, then moved to Stratford where they remained their entire lives. Don died in 1991.
Bev is survived by three children: Cindy (Brad), Douglas (Colleen), and Sandra (Craig). She was a brilliant grandmother to Aaron (Lynn), Miles (Melissa), Nathan (Jenni), and Matthew (Marie). Her great-grandchildren Elsa, Ava, Emily, and Max affectionately called her “GG.” Bev is also survived by her younger sister, Mary Lou (Rob). She was predeceased by her brother Douglas (Margaret).
Bev’s interests were astonishingly varied: a voracious reader, sports enthusiast, gardening guru, music lover (Bach to Blues), bridge fiend, anything involving water, community volunteer, travel. She shared her interests with friends and family alike with generosity, a sharp wit, and a practical sensibility. Bev was an accomplished singer in her youth, often reminding us that she was the only family member “to have sung at Massey Hall.” Her creativity saw no bounds – knitting evolved into expert knot tying. And Bev’s raspberry pie was legendary!
At her request there will be no visitation nor funeral. Cremation has taken place, and a private family gathering in her honour is planned for this summer.
