CARBIN, Beverley Anne (nee Smith) 1938-2024
Beverley Anne Carbin’s family and friends are deeply saddened by the loss of their mother, grandmother, sister, confidante, and friend. Beverley died peacefully and surrounded by love at her home on December 27th. She was 86.
Beverley was singular, intelligent, elegant, vivacious, curious, strong, and loving. She is already missed.
Whether Beverley was offering wise counsel to a friend, gathering with friends and family at her beloved cottage on the French River, sharing her legendary Christmas cookies, pies, or casseroles with friends, neighbours, and those in need, or volunteering in her community, first with the Out of the Cold program and later with the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation; Beverley brought boundless energy, focus, and generosity to everything she did.
Following her retirement from Joseph Brant Hospital’s Emergency Department, Beverley was able to spend more time to her many passions: interior design, gardening, flower arranging, enjoying delicious meals with adored friends; but above all, she cherished her role as mother and grandmother and drew enormous pride and joy from the lives of her children and grandchildren.
A devoted wife of seventeen years to Dr. Robert Jardine Carbin (predeceased, June 4, 2015), Beverley is lovingly remembered by her children Gregory (Leslie), Suzanne, Paul (Holly) Brandreth, her sister Joan Moore (George), and by her grandchildren Andrew, Mabel, and Grace, as well as her close-knit group of friends. She is also predeceased by her parents John and Emily (nee Martin), by her sister Marie Smith (Don) and brother Larry Smith (Pat).
Love and gratitude to the many special people who made Beverley’s last weeks so comfortable: her best friend of many decades, Marlene Eberle; Dr. Arshad Hack; as well as Wendy and Rita, of Songbird Medical; John, of St. Elizabeth’s; and Cheryl, of Care Partners.
In lieu of flowers, Beverley and her family request donations be made to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation in her memory. Beverley enjoyed flowers all her life, but Joseph Brant Hospital, where she and her late husband spent decades of their professional careers, has always held a particularly special place in her heart. The family would be honoured by your support of Burlington’s hospital through a donation in her memory.
