Nicholson, Betty Marie – Betty
passed away peacefully, at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PEI,
surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Betty was born in
Bishop’s Falls, Newfoundland, to the late Pearce and Irene
(Cull) King. Betty was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, John
Nicholson and her daughter Irene Mbuyi of Mississauga, Ontario. Betty
is survived by her children David (Marlene), Bedford, NS; Gordon
(Anita), Chelton; Ruth (Scott) Morrison, Cornwall; Scott, Searletown;
Darlene (Scott) Arsenault, Cornwall; and Marlene (Glenn) MacWilliams,
Borden-Carleton; son-in-law Joseph Mbuyi, Mississauga, ON; Brothers
and Sisters, Doreen Nippard, Kitchener, ON; Pastor David (Ruth),
Calgary, AB; Hayward (Lois) King, Saint John, NB; Bennie (Vera) King,
Bishop’s Falls, NF; Sandra King, Kitchener, ON; Sadie King,
Kitchener, ON; Ruth Manual, Kitchener, ON; Brothers and
Sisters-in-laws Ester King, Mississauga, ON; Von Saunder, NF; Mellina
King, NF; and by many nieces and nephews. Loving Grammie to
grandchildren Suzanne and Johnathan (Rachel) Nicholson, Christina
(Andrew), Taunya (Kyle) and Ryan Nicholson; Bradley (Vanessa) and
Christopher Morrison; Alex and Pierce Mbuyi; Jodi and Austin
MacWilliams; Colby and Jase Arsenault; Great-Grandchildren, Skylar,
Hunter, Corban, Jaxx and Aneva. Predeceased by Brothers and Sisters
Roma (Von) Saunder; Wallace, Bob, and Bert; Brothers and
Sisters-in-law Alec Nippard, Denny Manual, William (Madonna)
Nicholson, Alexander Nicholson, Christie Nicholson, Anne (Alfred)
Matheson, Grace (Waverly) Jay, Roy Paynter, and Donald
Young.
Betty was happiest when she had someone to cook for, and man
could she cook. Betty was the homemaker who took care of the
family of seven kids, so there was always lots of mouths to feed. She
loved having company, at the house in Searletown, whether it was
neighbours and friends in for a card game on Saturday evening,
relatives and extended family or friends of her children. They all
left her home with a full stomach and promise to come back again.
Betty looked after everyone else first, and herself last, she was
always the last to sit down at the table after everyone else was
served. Betty has been a lost soul since her love of 63 years, John
passed in June of 2021. We know that she is finally with him again and
happy.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where
visitation will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, from 4 – 6
p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Salvation Army Church,
Summerside, on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will
take place in the Searletown Cemetery, Searletown. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations to the Salvation Army Church, Summerside; Canadian
Cancer Society or the Parkinson Society would be
appreciated.
