Bertram (Bert) Edmund Stairs
1936-2023
Bert E. Stairs of Nackawic, NB passed away on September 18, 2023 at
the Upper River Valley Hospital. He was born on May 16, 1936 at
Hartfield, NB, a son of the late Elmer and E. Marguerite (Schriver)
Stairs.
Bert’s favourite joy in life was tormenting and was a
professional at that. He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling and four
wheeling. Bert drove hundreds of thousands of miles on the highway as
a trucker, working for several companies. He enjoyed his coffee runs
and sitting in his garage visiting with anyone who stopped by. His
favourite company was his family, especially his grandchildren and
great grandchildren.
Bert is survived by his wife of 65 years Frances (Trecartin) Stairs;
two daughters, Kathy Reid (Ricky), Rossville, NB and Kim Seveck
(Jerry), British Columbia; a son Kevin Stairs (Kate), Nackawic, NB;
grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Stairs,
Moncton, NB, Paul Stairs, Millville, NB and Peter Stairs (Carlene),
Temperance Vale, NB; one sister Audrey McDermid, Oshawa, ON; three
brothers-in-law Carl Stalker, Sam Winia and Gerald Bradley; one
sister-in-law, Barb Stairs; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; a son Keith Stairs; two brothers
Dalton Stairs and Donnie Stairs; six sisters, Juanita, Ella, Alda,
Rosalie, Shona and Darlene; three sisters-in-law, Doris, Carol and
Hilda; four brothers-in-law Dave Reay, Roy McArthur, Lewis Stairs and
Jack McDermid.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis
Drive, Nackawic, NB on Friday, September 22, 2023 from 2 to 4 pm. A
private graveside service will be held later at Otis Cemetery.
For those who wish to make a donation in memory of Bert, the family
has suggested the Hartfield Cemetery or Carleton County Animal
Shelter.
The family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the ER Staff and
2East at the Upper River Valley Hospital for their professionalism and
caring way.
