Bernard Nottage

November 19, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Bernard, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Bernard will be deeply missed by his wife Elizabeth Jay, son Stephen, daughter Michelle Mennaman (Robert), grandchildren Amy Nottage (Taggert Johnson), Wren Mennaman and many friends.
Bernard loved helping others, travelling and exploring the world with Elizabeth by his side, a full-bodied red wine, classic musicals and singing. He was passionate about his various hobbies throughout the years, including photography, wine making (and of course tasting), folk group and choir, computers and the Australian Wine Society.
Of late, Bernard became a voracious reader and TV viewer of mysteries and dramas, especially ones set during World War 2. In one year he devoured over 100 books and became an enthusiastic supporter of the Toronto Public Library system, often making suggestions for new additions to their shelves.
Although we miss him terribly, we are imagining that Bernard is joining Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly in song and dance up in heaven and is filled with joy.
We would like to thank the many caring and thoughtful nurses and doctors at Trillium Mississauga Hospital that made Bernard’s final moments a bit easier and provided him some comfort.
Visitation will take place at Turner & Porter, Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto) on Tuesday, November 26th between 4 – 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 27th at St. Bonaventure’s Church (1300 Leslie St., North York) at 11 a.m. A reception to immediately follow at The Goose and Firkin at 1875 Leslie St, North York.
