Peacefully, with loved ones by his side, on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in his ninety-sixth year, after celebrating his ninety-fifth birthday on February 21st. Beloved and incredibly devoted husband of Marilyn Smith and the late Sally Smiley. Dear father and father‑in‑law of Sharon and John Kukulsky, Brian and Vanessa Royal. Proud Grandfather of Joshua (Lucie), Jacob (Lara) and Natasha Sally (Seth). Son of the late Morris and the late Molly Cohen. Predeceased by his sisters and their spouses, Edna and Otto Horner, Helen and Alex Smolar, Sarah and Cecil Steinberg, and by his great friends Jack and Elsa Tooberman, Karl and Maria Madl. He had a great affection for Newfoundland (before and after Confederation), airplanes (especially the DC-3), fishing, cruises, and square dancing. The family would like to thank Andrea Tonchin and her family for their support of Marilyn and Bernie through the years, as well as the doctors, nurses, and entire staff at the Teresa‑Dellar Palliative Care Residence for their wonderful and compassionate care. Graveside service on Friday, March 1 at 12:00 noon at the Knights of Pythias Section, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, 5505 Rang du Bas St-Francois, Laval, Quebec, H7J 1B3.
