Obituary
Barbara May Smith passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Grey Bruce Hospice Inc. (Chapman House) on Sunday January 29, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. She carried her battle with such grace and inspiration.
Barb was in her 84th year and was the loving wife of the late Ron Smith (who departed this world 24 days earlier). They were in their 64th year of marriage. A true inspiration.
Proud mother of Kenny Smith of Cambridge, Ronnie Smith Jr. of Cambridge, Janette (Chris) Weiss of Southampton, and Suzanne (John) Ward of Manchester, England who was a second daughter to her.
She was the loving grandma of Alishia (Jimmy), Justin (Merideth), Ashleigh, Nicole (Asim), Chantele (Martin), Shaina (Tyler), Justene, and Tyler. Along with all 11 of her great grandchildren and her many adopted children/grandchildren over the years.
Barb will be greatly missed by her favourite sister Sheila Harbridge, along with all her nieces, nephews and their families in England and Australia.
Predeceased by her son Ian, brother Ron, sister-in-law Anita, and infant grandson Christopher.
A celebration of life gathering for family and friends will be held at the Southampton Legion Branch 155 on Saturday, February 4th from 1-4pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Chapman House of Owen Sound, or the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Wildlife Federation would be greatly appreciated.
