February 24, 1930 – January 22, 2023
Passed away suddenly but peacefully at The Village of Tansley Woods on January 22, 2023—the same date we lost her beloved husband, Edward Joseph Jackson, 27 years ago. Daughter Karen and granddaughters Kailey and Erika believe they have finally returned to one another, and that alongside Barbara’s late sister and best friend, Ruth “Blossy” Geldart, they are looking over their families with full hearts and great pride.
For 92 years, Barbara was adored and admired for her endless outpour of generosity, her sharp-witted sense of humor, and the unconditional love she showed to everyone in her life. She took joy in journaling and documenting the simple pleasures that filled her days: hosting friends for card games, enjoying one of her favorite hotdogs or hamburgers, traveling and going on cruises with the girls, visiting her trusted hairdresser of 40-plus years. To call her reliable would be an immense understatement—she was giving, incredibly loyal, and supportive beyond measure.
Wherever Barbara went she brought an unmatchable sense of comfort—from hidden stashes of candy bars to layers of blankets she was always adamant about sharing. She was passionate about playing and watching golf, competing with Jeopardy! contestants at home on the couch, showing out at holiday meals with classics like her famous jelly salad, and singing along to Frank Sinatra.
It would be Barbara’s wish for nephew Paul, nieces Jane and Christine, brother-in-law Dave and his wife, Jan, and her entire circle of family and friends to know that she will remain by our sides in spirit. In return, we will hold her close in our hearts forever. She will lay to rest at Burlington Memorial Gardens, alongside the love of her life, “Joe.”
