Barbara O’Connor, age 92, of Owen Sound, died peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2024 while holding the hand of her husband of 72 years, Bill O’Connor. Barb lived in both Owen Sound and Sauble Beach, and was a loving mother and grandmother.
A proud member of the Neath clan, born in 1932, the ninth child, “the baby,” of Samuel and Frances, Barb was beloved by not only her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, but was known within her own family as the Chronicler of the Cousins. Her kind attention and furious loyalty to the lives of her siblings’ many children was a thing to behold.
She was a competitive five-pin bowler in Owen Sound, and when she and Bill moved to Sauble Beach, was a fixture on the community lawn bowling pitch, both as a player and game organizer. Barb was predeceased by her daughter, Lyn, who passed in 2022. She will be sorely missed by her husband, Bill, and by her surviving children Larry and Ted. Also grieving are Larry’s wife, Mary Morris, and Ted’s wife, Lynn O’Connor, as are her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
There will be no funeral service, with arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services.
