Barbara Anderson Huget, aged 66, died suddenly on November 24, 2024 in Oakville, Ontario. She is predeceased by her parents, Lesley and Warren Huget, her brother Richard, and her ex-husband Uwe Meyer. She is survived by her sister Deborah Sunter (nee Huget), nephews Daniel (Elena) and David (Mayu), and her niece Jessica (Mariom).
Born and raised in Ottawa, Barb moved to Toronto to study and work. After receiving a BFA, Theatre from York University she began an impressive and diverse career in the GTA and Southern Ontario in theatre, music and the visual arts.
Her career began with work at the Blyth and Muskoka Festivals. At the age of 26 Barb became the General Manager of Tapestry Music Theatre (now Tapestry Opera). After this she was General Manager of Gryphon Theatre, followed by several years as Touring Consultant for the Ontario Arts Council. In the late 90s Barb became Executive Director of Canadian Artists Representation, Ontario and then Executive Director for Theatre Ontario. In 2001 Barb turned to the visual arts and studied drawing and painting at OCAD and in Florence, Italy and returned to teach Arts Administration and Arts History at Humber College. During this time she obtained a Masters Degree in Education.
In more recent years Barb returned to management positions for the Lowville Festival, Guelph JazzFest, and Gravenhurst. Over the last five years, Barb has been a highly valued Manager of One Burlington.
Barb was a loving, generous and talented woman and will be greatly missed by family and friends. Donations can be made to the Humane Society.
