It is with profound sadness we announce that Barbara Hanson passed away on July 4th 2024. Loving mother of Kyle Lee and Nanny to Mackenzie. Loving daughter of the late Allen Hanson, Elvera Hanson and stepdaughter of the late Pat DiTomaso. She leaves behind her sisters Diana Hunt (Dennis), Virginia (the late Wayne Rutherford), Margo Hotrum, Jann Hanson, Wendy Steele (Bill), the late Ginger Hanson, Kimberly Hanson and umpteen nieces and nephews. Barb worked for Sears at Centre Mall, Mappins Jewellers at Eastgate Square and Accu-Gem in Hamilton. Barb had such a great sense of humour and was always joking around with everyone. She was an avid fan of her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. She looked forward to her August long weekend get togethers with her sisters and Mom. Barb cherished the times she took Kyle on Fishing trips and outings and never missed his baseball games. Barb will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew her. Special thank you to the staff at Hamilton General Hospital, St. Peter’s Hospital, Dr. Jordan and staff in the Palliative Care Unit for their wonderful care and support. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk and Fennell) on Friday July 12th from 12 noon until the time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Children’s Wish or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
