August 8, 1996 – August 16, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a loving father, son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend, Avery Joseph Desmoulin, on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at the age of 27 years.
Avery was born in Thunder Bay on August 8, 1996. Anyone who knew Avery knew his love. His heart was big and his stories were even bigger. He had such a gift of story telling, including animation and sounds effects. He loved to make people laugh but he found his heart at the drum. He was a traditional/woodland dancer and danced with so much passion. He cherished his Pow Wow family. Avery was also very adventurous and loved being outside, barbecuing for family and friends and writing music. His greatest passions were his babies and being a father brought him so much joy. Avery will be deeply missed by all.
Avery leaves behind 4 amazing children, Alaeyah, Marcus, Gage & Avianna; Momma Bear Genevieve Desmoulin and her partner Andrew Hubbard; Dad Joe Bouchard and his partner Cora Letwin; biological father David Young and Sandra McIntyre; siblings Jacenia, Yolanda, Joseph, Hadden and Kingsley; Nan Aggie Desmoulin, grandma Nora Bouchard and grandfather Jeffrey Young; Godparents Tanya Moses and Kelly Desmoulin. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
He was predeceased by his first love, Karen Thompson; grandfather Henry Elie and uncle Billy Elie; Pow Wow brothers, Jesse Gustafson and Ray Moses, and many other relatives.
A Traditional Wake Service will be held at the Fort William First Nation Gymnasium (located in the Arena), beginning at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, August 26, 2023 and will continue Sunday. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 28, 2023 at 10:00am, with a Traditional Feast to follow. A Sacred Fire will be lit Saturday morning at sunrise. Cremation will take place with interment at a later date.
Should friends so desire, a Go Fund Me for Avery has been established to help with expenses and for the continued support of his children.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James.
