Avanelle “Din” Ethel Leblanc (nee Jackson)
February 24, 1939 – August 30, 2023.
It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Avanelle “Din” Leblanc on the morning of Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the West Nipissing General Hospital surrounded by family and friends. Avanelle was in her 84th year.
Avanelle was the beloved and devoted wife for 63 years to the late Denis Leblanc. She was the dear mother of Carole-Ann (Bruce) Bethune, Daniel (Diane), Lissa Johnson, and Michel (Jennifer), cherished Grandma of Sara, Adam, Ashley (Ken) and Stephanie Bethune, Nicholas (Sara) and Cassidy Leblanc, Tyler and Tanner Johnson and proud great-grandmother of Ivy, Elora and Maverick Leblanc.
Avanelle was born in Field, Ontario on February 24, 1939, to the late Alfred and Violet Jackson. Survived and adored by her sister Earla Poho and by her brothers Gord (late Aline), and Larry (late Michelle). She was predeceased by her siblings, Desmond, William, James, Melville (late Betty), Alfred Jr., Helen and Sam (Louise).
Mom was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. She was fiercely proud and devoted to her entire family and friends. Her friendships were long lasting, deep and equally important to her as well. She enjoyed playing cards and shuffleboard, watching curling and the Blue Jays. As most know, Mom had a passion for cooking and baking for others. She never arrived to an event empty handed. She always enjoyed dressing her best and was never without a smile. She loved to laugh! She especially enjoyed telling stories and jokes and was always quick with her wit and sense of humor.
Avanelle faced incredibly difficult times with such courage and grace. She was guided by prayer and she always tried to look on the bright side of life which was filled with the love of her large family. She loved connecting with others and her presence will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Mom’s memory will forever be cherished; unconditional love for family and friends.
We would like to send our appreciation to the nursing staff at the West Nipissing General Hospital for their exceptional care. The family would also like to share a heartfelt thank you to Doctor Behamdouni and Doctor Desormiers for being such kind and thoughtful voices when we needed it most. You are both a credit to your profession and we truly appreciate all you did.
As per Avanelle’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the West Nipissing General Hospital Hospice Care or to the Cancer Society would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
