Audrey Bernice (Hartung) Spoelstra of Listowel passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, in her 75th year.
Wife of Ted Spoelstra. Mother of Steven & Bethany Spoelstra of Guelph, and Nancy Spoelstra & Peter North of Grimsby, and grandmother of Abigail, Frederick and Connor.
Daughter of Ruth Hartung of Listowel. Sister of Marlene & John Mueller of Gads Hill, and sister-in-law of Harry & Bev Spoelstra of Listowel, Tina & Ken Jones of Georgetown, and Leola Hartung of Gowanstown. Remembered by her nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father Victor Hartung and brother Don Hartung.
Audrey was born on May 28, 1949 on a farm just outside of Gowanstown, where she lived until she met the love of her life, Ted, in 1972. Once she and Ted married, they moved to Listowel where she remained for the rest of her life.
Audrey valiantly battled Multiple Sclerosis for decades, never letting it dampen her enthusiasm or positive attitude. She was an unstoppable card writer and creator of plastic canvas items. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and other family members. She was only slightly let passionate about her Toronto Maple Leafs than she was about her Toronto Blue Jays.
She truly loved people and was appreciative of anyone who stopped to spend time with her. She fought very hard to the very end, and although we will miss her deeply, we are happy that she can finally rest.
Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the Listowel Salvation Army Citadel on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow.

Donations in Audrey’s memory can be given to the Listowel Memorial Hospital Foundation or the MS Society, or you could honour her memory by writing someone a note of encouragement or by doing a kind act.
