It is with profound sadness that the family of Audrey Louise Rutherford (nee Lupton) announce her sudden passing on January 21, 2023 in her seventy-fourth year.
She is the daughter of the late Charles L. Lupton and the former Allison Snedden. Audrey was born on the 5th concession of West Zorra township on December 20, 1949. Beloved wife of the late William James “Bill” Rutherford (2018). Cherished mother of James A. and his wife Kelly Rutherford and their children Jack and James Rutherford Jr. Audrey is also survived by her loving sister Etta Player and friend Jack Wilson, brother and sister-in-law Roy Dill and Margaret Lupton, as well as brother-in-law John Rutherford and sisters-in-law Margaret and Betty and several nieces and nephews. Audrey is predeceased by her brother Charles J. Lupton and sister Johann Dill, her brother-in-law Wilfred Player as well as her father and mother-in-law William E. and Florence (Henry) Rutherford. She is also predeceased by her nephew William C. “Billy” Dill.
Audrey enjoyed many duties that came with living on a working dairy farm. She spoke fondly of her childhood on the farm with her family. She met the love of her life, Bill, when they were teenagers and were married for 46 years. Audrey began her working life with Orr Insurance, then Gaffney construction and over 20 years with Conestoga College; starting with the Stratford School of Nursing and ending her time with Conestoga College at Doon Campus, as an administrator. She was always partnered in the day-to-day operations of the farm. She had a preference for red tractors and especially mowing her acres of lawn on her cub cadets. She loved her dogs and had several over the years. She leaves behind her dearest pup Sadie. Over the years Audrey was a dedicated member of her community. She enjoyed her many years with the Hampstead Women’s Institute and the Brocksden School Museum. She was a faithful member of Knox North Easthope Presbyterian Church and later Shakespeare Presbyterian Church.
Friends and relatives will be received at Shakespeare Presbyterian Church, 2196 Line 34, Shakespeare, from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Thursday January 26, 2023. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Shakespeare Presbyterian Church at 11 am with Rev. Rob Congram officiating. Interment in Avondale Cemetery.
