Audrey Helen Young Obituary
Audrey Helen Young (nee Campbell), passed away on October 08, 2024, from final stage Alzheimer’s and Cancer in Calgary, Alberta. Audrey was born on May 10, 1935, at the “Scottish Nursing Home” in Calgary Alberta, Canada to parents John Herbert “Bert” Campbell and Margaret Dudgeon Campbell (née Grieve) and lived in various cities in the province of Alberta including Lethbridge, Edmonton, and Calgary.
Audrey married the love of her life Henry “Harry” Gordon Young on October 25, 1958, and they welcomed four children from 1960 to 1965. They remained in Calgary until 2003 when they retired to Okotoks, Alberta.
Audrey’s profession along with being a full-time stay-at-home parent began in 1976 when she became active in the Art community. She began her art career using oil as a medium and porcelain as a canvas. Her signature piece in porcelain painting and later in watercolor was of the Wild Rose (Alberta’s provincial flower). Audrey then changed mediums and in 1984 started creating paintings in watercolor and added acrylic paintings to her portfolio in 1994. Audrey developed her talents in lessons with various instructors, courses at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and numerous workshops throughout her artistic career.
Audrey has sold and exhibited watercolor, acrylic and porcelain art in Settler AB, Calgary AB, Edmonton AB, Vancouver BC, England UK and Japan. She has won several awards for her work at the Calgary Stampede artist show case. Since 1995 she has been an active member of the Calgary Sketch Club. Audrey was always an active member in her community as both a volunteer and a leader. When her children were young she was a Girl Guide leader and worked closely with her sister-in-law in leading the ladies Grace Bethany group at Grace Presbyterian Church. Later, in her life she volunteered her time with the Calgary Sketch Club helping with setting up art shows and retreats in the support of many of the members and continued to always step forward to teach art to anyone that showed interest.
Audrey is survived by her four children – Stephanie McIntyre (Husband Chris McIntyre), Colin Young (Wife Donna Johnson), Brian Young (wife Candice Young), Ian Young, her grandchildren Jim McIntyre (wife Nichol McIntyre), Kim Osborne (husband Alec Osborne), Coleman Young, Garrett Young, Riley Young, Tanner Young, Alexa Young and her Great Grandchildren Callum Osborne, Liam Osborne, Jaxon Osborne. Audrey is also survived by her sister Joyce Moore (née Campbell), her brother-in-law George Moore and their two children Janice Moore and Colleen Moore.
A tribute to Audrey (Audrey’s Tea and Art Show) will be held on November 09, 2024.
