Audrey Fearnall Obituary

Audrey was born in West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby, Ontario and raised on the farm in North Grimsby, the ninth child of Jessie Lillian Kathleen (Wardell) and Arthur Edward Nickerson. Audrey was the first in her family to seek further education after high school. She went on to college and obtained her RPN in 1974. After graduation, she started her nursing career in the Owen Sound General and Marine Hospital. Audrey and the love of her life, David Harry Fearnall, met on a blind date at a Halloween party. In 1976, on New Year’s Day, they embarked on an East Coast adventure when Dave’s band was booked out there. After settling into a house on Herring Cove Road, Audrey soon started at Victoria Hospital in Halifax. While David travelled to areas to entertain, Audrey worked and would often take a bus to where he was on her days off. In spring of that same year, they headed back to live in Kitchener, Ontario where Audrey worked at St. Mary’s Hospital. 1977 was a busy year. They were blessed with twin boys, Jason and James and married. In 1977, they returned to Dave’s hometown of Owen Sound. Audrey returned to the hospital there where she worked for 35 years, retiring in 2012. During that time, Audrey’s family grew, Byron in 1982, Chris in 1987 and the biggest surprise of all was the arrival of a daughter, Jennifer in 1990. Audrey was blessed with 9 grandchildren, Emma, Carter, Keenan, Gavyn, Marley, Taryn, Makenna, Thea and Rogan.
A memorial service will be held at Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. West, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492 on Saturday, January 4, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior, reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Canadian Liver Foundation, Parkinson Canada or the Owen Sound Salvation Army are appreciated. Online condolences can be sent to Audrey’s family by visiting her memorial at www.woodfuneralhome.ca.
