Aubrey Sawatzky, Born at Altona Manitoba on July 12. 1936. Died peacefully on November 14, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Aubrey Sawatzky, a beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Aubrey passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024, at the age of 88.
Born in Altona Manitoba, Aubrey was the son of Henry and Marie. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Sawatzky, and sister’s Helen, Ann, and Lou, brothers Harry and Lambert as well as his stepdaughter, Judy Dietrich. Aubrey’s legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and great – grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.
Aubrey married Margaret November 11, 1972, and, through this union, became a devoted father figure to her six children: Pat (Ken) Mahon, Dan (Linda) McAvena, Doug McAvena, and triplets Judy Dietrich, Joyce McAvena, and Jim McAvena. He welcomed them all into his heart as his own, embracing the role of a loving father. Aubrey also cherished his 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
Aubrey was a devout Jehovah’s Witness, known for his unwavering faith, kindness, and generosity. His gentle, calm demeanor and willingness to help others touched the lives of all who knew him. A talented craftsman, Aubrey was passionate about restoring furniture, taking great pride in breathing new life into old pieces. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, sharing these outdoor activities with those closest to him.
Aubrey will be remembered for his deep faith, quiet strength, and loving spirit. He will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
