ARTHURINA (INA) KOWBUZ
Mrs. Arthurina (Ina) Kowbuz, age 97 years, passed away peacefully at Bethammi Nursing Home on Monday, February 7, 2023 with her family by her side.
Ina was born on October 12, 1925 in Strachan, Scotland. She married her husband, Mike in 1942 in Banchory and in 1946 came to Canada with her son, Michael to join her husband.
Ina loved gardening and as soon as failing flowers touched her hands she brought them back to life. She loved to sit on her swing on the back porch listening to the birds sing and enjoying nature.
Ina will be missed by her three children Michael (Phylis), Robert (Perta), and Barbara (Ron) Hodowansky. Her grandchildren Michael, Christine, Tracy, Deborah, Meaghan and Christopher. As well as her great-grandchildren Nicole, Mitchell, Jacob, Tanner, and Olivia.
She was predeceased by her husband Mike; son Raymond in infancy; daughter Pauline Fonso; her parents Isabella and George Reid; brother Gerorge; sister Mary Asquith; and special niece Helen Thompson in Scotland.
The family would like to thank all of mom’s caregivers at St. Joe’s, 4 South and Bethammi Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Harmony United Church – 1 Shuniah St.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ina’s memory to St. Joseph’s Foundation if desired.
Arrangements have been entrusted to SIMPLER TIMES CREMATION CENTRE, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
