Ardis Audrey Dahl died in Lethbridge on Thursday, November 23 at the age of 89 years old. She was born in Edmonton, Alberta, and spent her life in Saskatoon and Drake, Saskatchewan; in Victoria, BC, and in many Alberta towns and cities.
Arde lived an eventful life, filled with change. She viewed every new locale as a new opportunity, and enjoyed work as a school secretary, a magistrate clerk, a bank secretary, and was eventually proud to become a realtor. Wherever she moved, she looked for a local golf course, a good walking trail, a nearby library, and a choir to join. With those requirements met, Arde was happy.
Truth be told, Arde was always happy. She approached life with joy, delighting in the scent of a crisp fall day as much as a watercolour paint stroke on her painted cards, or – her specialty – a perfect match between wardrobe and season and occasion. That joyous quality drew others to her. Never has there been a more engaging personality and the full shine of Arde’s warm attention was a gift that filled her life with friends. She loved music and books, painting and walking, and became accomplished and knowledgeable in her many interests. But most of all, she loved people. Meeting new people was her delight and she could effortlessly charm a room full of strangers.
Arde adored her family and the feeling was mutual. We will miss her but promise to tell Arde stories for years to come.
Arde was predeceased by her parents Rubin and Grace Dahl, her husband Glenn Elias, her sister Dorothy, and her husband John Onfrechuk.
She remained close to her dear sister, Pat, all of her life.
Arde leaves behind her children: Valerie (Jim), Leanne (Glen), Dawn (Ralph), and Jay (Kristin); her grandchildren: Christopher (Tia), Joshua (Jennifer), Jessica (Dan), Courtney, Jacob (Meaghan), Graeme (Emily), Robin, Daniel (Stephanie), Bryde (Chris), Louis, Natalie, and Imogen; her Great-grandchildren: Aurora, Sawyer, Azlynn, Thea, Lucianne, Charlie, Skye, Maeve, Goldie, Jasper, Cleo, Myles, and Finn: and many nieces and nephews, including her much loved niece, Laurie Grabia.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the McKillop United Church, 2329 15 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB, with Reverend Trevor Potter officiating.
