In Celebration of
Antonio Lavorato
May 13, 1942 –
September 4, 2024
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather, Anthony Lavorato. His presence in our lives was a guiding light, and his memory will forever remain a treasured part of our hearts.
Anthony was a pillar of strength and love, whose wisdom and kindness touched everyone who knew him. As a father to Fred (Jenny) and Teresa (Tom), he was a source of unwavering support and encouragement, guiding his children with a gentle hand and a loving heart. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the lessons he imparted.
To his grandchildren, Tommy, Mia and Michael, he was a beacon of joy and inspiration. His stories, laughter, and warm embraces created memories that will be cherished forever. He had a unique way of making each grandchild feel special, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
He was a cherished husband to his late wife of 32 years, Anna, whose companionship and love enriched his life profoundly. Together, they built a life filled with love, respect, and countless cherished moments. In his later years, Anthony found solace and happiness with his late common-law partner, Mary. Her presence brought joy and comfort, and together they created new memories and shared their lives together.
He will also be greatly missed by his loving sister-in-law, Franka, and his nieces, Antoniella (Charlie), Adele (Charlie) and nephew Anthony (Daniella) and their children.
Anthony was born in Piane Crati, Italy, and immigrated to Canada at a young age. He settled in Sudbury before moving to Toronto, where he had a dream of building a new life. He worked as a machinist initially before beginning his long career with the City of Toronto. He began as a general labourer and quickly rose up the ranks, serving as a supervisor in the Water Department for many years. He was known for his commitment, expertise, and unwavering dedication to his work.
Anthony enjoyed spending time in the company of his family and friends. He loved carrying on the Italian traditions of making homemade wine, tomato sauce, giardiniera, olives and sausages. For many years he was an avid gardener and shared his bounty with family, friends and neighbours. He enjoyed an afternoon with a good book and loved nothing more than an evening of food and wine surrounded by his loved ones.
Rest in peace, Anthony. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved you.
