Anthony «Tony» John Goodwin
1946-2023
Anthony John Goodwin, 76, passed away suddenly on January
3rd, 2023 at the Moncton Hospital with his wife by his
side.
Tony was born in Clemsford, England on October 9th, 1946
the son of the late John Victor Goodwin and Betty Sylvia (Fisk)
Goodwin of England.
He served with the British Armed Forces and travelled all
over the world. He served in Hong Kong, Singapore and did
three tours in Northern Ireland. He became a
commando and paratrooper with the Special Forces for the
UK. When he was a young soldier he came to Canada and was in
Gagetown, NB, where he met the love of his life. He returned
after his last tour to Northern Ireland to get married after
a very short courtship. He became a Canadian Citizen
and was married within two months, after which he and
Kathleen started their family together. In 2012 Tony retired
after 37 years with Kellogg’s Canada Inc. as
a Territory Sales Manager.
Tony loved life and lived it to the fullest. He
was active in his community and was always willing to help out and
lend a hand wherever needed. He belonged to the Toastmasters
for several years, Coached various levels of soccer throughout the
Moncton area, was leader and organizer of the Duke of Edinburgh awards
for Moncton 101 Squadron Air Cadets, was past president of
the Riverview Speed Skating Club and also former Chairman of the Board
for Advance Savings Credit Union. He enjoyed reading,
fishing, playing soccer, golf and travelling around the world on
cruises with his family. One of his favorite hobbies was
spending time in his flower garden in the backyard. He loved
music of all kinds and after his retirement he became a regular at the
gym.
Above all things Tony loved his family. He
enjoyed times with his children and his grandchildren. He loved to
joke around and make people laugh. He will be remembered for his great
sense of humour and jovial personality. He was one
of a kind and will never be
forgotten.

He will be deeply missed by mother, Betty of England; his
best friend and wife, going on 50 years, Kathleen (Edgett) Goodwin;
his daughters, Erika Goodwin of Calgary, AB and Erynn Golder (Brendan)
of Carstairs, AB; son, Ryan Goodwin of Airdrie, AB; brothers, Ian
Goodwin (Linda) and Paul Goodwin (Elaine) both of England; his
precious grandchildren, Rowan, Peyton, and Declan. He will
also be missed by his nieces, nephews and by all his extended family
and many friends.
Besides his father he was predeceased by his daughter,
Marissa; brother, Stuart; in-laws, William «Billy» and
Isabella Edgett and sister-in-law, Mary Elliott
(Russell).
There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday
evening, January 11th, 2023 from 6-8pm at the Albert County
Funeral Home. The Celebration Of Life will be held at the
funeral home on Thursday, January 12th, 2023 at 2:00pm with Rev. Peggy
Reid officiating. The funeral will be posted on
the Albert County Funeral Home You tube Channel and facebook page on
Friday, Jan 13th for those who can not make the service.
Interment will be in the Alma United Cemetery, Alma, NB at a
later date.
Donations to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital
-Oncology Department, Alma United Cemetery or charity of the
donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
family.
