Obituary of Ann Harley
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ann Harley, wife of Kevin Harley, announces her passing on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Bobby’s Hospice, surrounded by the love of her family. Ann fought her illness with grace and tenacity and will be remembered as a beacon of strength and dignity by her family.
Ann was born on March 17, 1955, in Saint John, NB, and was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy (Malone) McManuis. She will be remembered for her sense of humour and the natural ability that she had to make anyone laugh. She loved to bring joy to others and if she could find humour in any situation, she surely shared it to brighten the spirits of those around her. Ann met her husband, Kevin, while they both were students in university in Nova Scotia. The chances of two Saint Johners meeting in Nova Scotia was not lost on the couple and they fell deeply in love, it truly was love at first sight that transcended into 48 years of marriage. Ann spent her working years as a Pharmacy Technician and worked as an Optometric Assistant. She took a great sense of pride working in fields that helped people. The greatest joy in Ann’s life was when her beloved son Keith started a family of his own. Spending time with her grandchildren was one of the greatest pleasures in Ann’s life and she reveled in every moment spent with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a warm, funny, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and sister.
Ann is survived by her best friend and husband, Kevin; son Keith (Alex) Harley; sisters, Catherine (Michael Drew) McManuis and Joan (Warren) Ramsey; brother, Joseph (Marie) McManuis; beloved grandchildren: Jordan, Tayla and Arayna Harley; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Ann was predeceased by her parents, and her daughter, Stephanie Harley.
Ann’s family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Bobby’s Hospice and the Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology Department, for their kindness, compassion and friendship shown to Ann during her illness. It takes special people to do the work that you do, and you are greatly respected by the family.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis, (506-849-2119). There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A private memorial service will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology Dept. would be appreciated by the family.
