The family announces with sorrow, her death at her residence Walford Retirement Home, Walford road Sudbury, on Friday April 21st, 2023 at the age of 86 years. Daughter of the late Moril and Exilda (née Chaput) Lance. Predeceased by her sister Theresa Perry of Kitchener, sister Jeanne Gardner (Father Russ Gardner) and brothers Romeo Lance and John Lance (Dorothy) (née Gardner) Val Caron. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She will especially be missed by her niece Michelle Ricard who was her care giver and guardian for 11 years. I’m going to miss you “Trouble”. Annette had a very special place in her heart for her niece Debbie Arbuthnot. They spent the better part of 30 years together experiencing life’s challenges, enjoying good times and being a family. Annette often said she considered her a daughter she never had. Annette was also appreciative of the many visits she received from her niece Colette Lance who listened to many “back in the day stories” and had many laughs.
Annette was an accomplished business owner and ran a Lotto booth for many years bringing a lot of joy to her customers. She had an infectious smile, a great sense of humor and always took advantage of waiting for the right moment to crack a joke or make someone laugh. Her nickname at Walford Retirement Home was “Trouble” for her many pranks and was truly loved by her friends and staff.
Annette would never shy away from a good game of “Pass the Ace” and was known to the Lance Family for bringing a large box of chocolates every Christmas for all the kids while waltzing in the house singing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”.
A very special thank you to the folks at Walford Retirement Home for making her stay there memorable. Also, a special thank you to the staff and Dr. Roch at St. Joseph Rehab Centre (Clarion site) for taking such good care of her and the Nurses and PSW’s at Health Science North, North Wing, 7th floor for giving our Aunt such amazing care on her final days.
Annette is laid to rest with the Cooperative Funeral Home. There will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of life will be arranged in the summer. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society and the Northern Cancer Centre by cheque or online would be greatly appreciated.
