Anne Doell Obituary
Entered into her heavenly rest on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Third Crossing Manor, Gladstone, MB. at the age of 92 years.
She is lovingly remembered by her 4 children: Earl (Sheryl) of Oliver, BC; Kim Doell of Calgary, Chris (Tammi) Doell of Penticton, Carrington and Carter Doell of Kelowna; Eileen (Bob) Clarke of Gladstone, Rob Clarke and Kingston of Winnipeg, Julie (Clint) Sigurdson, Brock and Patrick of MacGregor; Brad (Joanne) Doell of Gladstone, Derek and Lauren Doell of Portage la Prairie, Jolene (Stephen) Ross, Peyton and Jase of Oakville, Victoria and Cameron Poschenreider of Elie; Edie (Reg) Dodd, Jenn and Chrisy Dodd-Harms and Willa, Fred and Krista Dodd, Kiegen and Casey (great-great-grandson Jack), Talon and Marissa all of Grande Prairie.
She is also survived by sister-in-law; Trudy Enns of Altona; one brother-in-law Allen Doell of Gladstone, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She also will be missed by her lifelong special friend Helen Unrau of MacGregor, who called her everyday and her friends at ClarkeSon Suites.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Jake; her parents Jake and Margaret Zacharias; in-laws Jake and Mary Doell.
Also her brothers and sisters, Jake and Elizabeth Zacharias (Anne), Pete and Kay Zacharias (Norma) Helen and Ernie Neustaeter, Margaret and Pete Dyck, Trudy and Jake Loewen of Armstrong, BC; her sister-in-law Mary and Aaron Toews; brother in law Nick Enns, sisters- in-law Audrey Doell and Dorothy Doell, special niece Jessie, nephews Doug, Larry, Wayne and Donald.
Mom was born in Aberdeen, SK and came with her family at a young age to a farm in the Edrans area. She went to the Gillespie School and after that she worked at the Gladstone Hospital. After raising her 4 children she returned to the workforce, first at the Macleods Store and then back to the hospital until her retirement.
In their retirement years mom and dad volunteered for MCC and the Gleaners at Oliver, BC. They enjoyed meeting many new friends and spending time with their brothers and sisters.
Mom was a woman of strength and integrity and was an inspiration to many until her final days. Her faith in God was her foundation in life and she did not hesitate to share her Christian beliefs with many people who were struggling with their own lives without judgement.
She was a lifelong member of the Gladstone Christian Fellowship Church and longest living member of the original Bergthaler Church at Mayfeld. Mom and Dad were married July 16, 1950 in the Gladstone Bergthaler Church.
Mom and dad were actively involved in the construction of both new churches in town. Mom loved her family and always looked forward to visits and phone calls and prayed for us and others daily.
Mom was always very active in her church teaching Sunday School and working with the Ladies Aid group which she always enjoyed. Because she was so tall, she was usually up on the ladders with Mary Toews when they we cleaning or painting at the church.
Mom and dad had a lot of great memories of their visits, coffees, meals and camping and other outings with their special church friends who were like family to them. Mom and dad loved to travel and had many trips to BC to visit their siblings well as winter vacations to Texas. They always looked forward to their fishing trips to Jan Lake with Earl and Sheryl.
Thank you to the staff at Third Crossing Manor for their loving care and many conversations making moms time there enjoyable. Her mind was clear and her memory was amazing until her final days.
